The 4 Pillars of Wound Management

“Wound Management” is the collective sum of all measures required to deal with patients afflicted with wounds. “Wound Care” (WC) is a component of “Wound Management” (WM) and reflects the local measures utilized to deal with wounds. Metaphorically, while WC deals with the “hole in the patient”, WM deals with the “whole patient”.

There are 4 Pillars (Tenets) of WM:

  1. Clinical Assessment
  2. Diagnostics
  3. Therapeutics
  4. Prevention and Prognostication
